Override Qualification Status - Change Disqualifier

Job screening questions are questions asked on the application and are job-specific, so they are different for each position. These are used to assist in scoring, ranking, and disqualifying applicants that fail to meet specific job qualifications. All applicants are available in the system, but only those who Met BQ (Basic Qualifications) are displayed, by default. Change the Qualified filter to Disqualified or Both to view disqualified applicants.

With this feature enabled, if your applicant is listed as disqualified and should be qualified (or the other way around), you can update that status.

An Admin user can contact Support to enable this feature on your account.

Once this optional feature is enabled, all users except for Viewing Managers will be able to override the Met BQ status of an applicant.

What is Your Goal?

If the applicant is listed as disqualified and should be qualified, the first option, depending on your user access and rights, is to reset the application to incomplete with the actions button in the applicant viewer. This is the BEST option since you are essentially sending back the application to be *corrected*. The applicant fixes the answer, and when s/he comes back into the system, they are correctly listed as qualified, and the answer is correct.

Alternately, you can use the Disqualifier Override option. This option is a better choice if the applicant is moving from qualified to disqualified. Once this optional feature is enabled, all users except for Viewing Managers will be able to override the Met BQ status of an applicant. When you edit the status, you will be required to also add a note describing why the status was changed. The applicant will then be moved to the correct Met BQ status and a note will appear on the Timeline. This does NOT change the applicant's answer. So this one is a better choice if the applicant is moving from qualified to disqualified as opposed to the other direction.

Override Qualification Status

Navigate to either the All Applicants or Applicants by Job tab and find the desired applicant, using additional filtering options, as needed.

Under the Met BQ column, hover your mouse over the Yes or No. A pencil icon will appear and the Yes/No will be displayed as a link.

Click the Yes/No/pencil. The Override Qualification Status window will open.

Change the Met BQ drop-down to the updated status and add a detailed note describing the reason for the change in the Notes box.

Click Submit to save your changes or Close to exit without saving.

The applicant will be moved to appear under the updated Met BQ status. If the applicant has been marked No, remember to adjust your filters to view Disqualified applicants.

The status change and your note will appear in the applicant's Timeline on the application record.

Common Questions

Who can change the disqualified status for applicants?

Once this optional feature is enabled, all users except for Viewing Managers will be able to override the Met BQ status of an applicant.

How does changing disqualifying questions affect past applicants?

If you have answers to job questions set to disqualify applicants and then you change what disqualifies the applicants, the change is not retroactive. Applicants are still considered disqualified and will need to be changed using the Override Basic Qualifications feature.

How can I make a question disqualify a candidate?

Job screening questions are questions asked on the application and are job-specific, so they are different for each position. These are used to assist in scoring, ranking, and disqualifying applicants that fail to meet specific job qualifications. Admin users and Job Posting Managers (optional) can create job screening question groups. Admin users and Job Posting Managers can attach job questions to job listings.
